Unsanctioned Block Party at Union Garage
A few weeks back, Union Garage held their Second Annual Unsanctioned Block Party. The night before a club member had texted me, as he was trying to get the DOCNYC to join this event, which I actually stumbled on by accident last year, while going to the shop to buy a plate puller for my Monster.
Of course I showed up about 12:30, but there were no local club members in sight, except a DESMO member that I knew from some upstate rides.
When I arrived, there were less than twenty people, and in keeping with the proudly "unsanctioned" nature of the party, the police had actually come, asking the Union Garage team to move their equipment and food back inside. Before long though, the place was buzzing with people.
The shop was opened up for dining, and some of the restoration projects were on full display.
Like the art these bikes truly are, the exposed trellis frame and engine case of this Ducati Monster were proudly exhibited.
One of the restoration projects in which Union Garage specializes was this beautiful Guzzi LeMans for sale.
...as well as this lovely LaVerda.
Although I only knew of two DOCNYC members officially coming, a number of the club made impromptu arrivals on their beautiful bikes, like this Hypermotard, covered in Rizoma and carbon fiber.
...and a rather dirty Paul Smart Edition GT1000In addition to Ducs were a number of classics, like this Sixties-era Spanish-made Montessa (Impala I think?).
...and some pretty BMW's, like this R90.
And a few chopped "Cafe Racers" like this Honda that I had seen at the Brooklyn Invitational last month.
It was a beautiful October day, with great food and awesome people, and I really appreciated that Union Garage had put it together.
