Desmo Holiday Party 2019

DESMO's holiday party this year was hosted after Christmas, at an Italian spot called the Woodstone Pizza Bar and Grill.

Gotham Ducati Track Day at NJMP

My boys from Gotham Ducati in NYC are joining me at the track today.  James showed up after dinner last night, but Jerry and Tommy got in late. They decided to ride down, and didn't get in till after midnight and unbelievably, they rode down from NYC.

The Most Beautiful Part of the Jersey Turnpike

The long Sunday return to NYC, where I found myself on the New Jersey Turnpike at dusk, with the sun glinting off the skyscrapers in Jersey City, as the buildings framed the masterpiece of a skyline I call home.

Suddenly Philly for a Wednesday

My buddy Jay and I went for a ride today.  He had to get the oil changed on his newly acquired BMW S1000RR, and we set off  towards Pennsylvania, planning to snake around the Delaware River up Route 32 towards the Delaware Water Gap.

ST3 Jersey Journey to NYC

I need electrics...Saturday was beautiful day; sunny with temperatures in the high 50's in PA, perfect for a late winter ride.  Sunday was cloudy, cold and barely in the 40's, creating a pretty brutal atmosphere for bringing my bike back to NYC.

I love my new saddle and tank bags, and a windscreen is an entirely a new experience for me, (since my Ducati Monster affords none of those accoutrements) but neither handwarmers nor wind protection afforded me too much comfort on the long, cold ride back to the city.

30 Days: A Ducati Odyssey (Before/After a Bike in NYC)

Ducati Odyssey:

I use Google Latitude to track my traveling history.  Some people find this a little creepy, but I assume phone companies are already tracking me anyway, so why not take advantage of a free GPS service?  One of the primary reasons I bought a motorcycle was that I felt a little trapped in Manhattan, with no way to (at least spontaneously) to get out of the city.  Over the last month, based on my records thus far, I think I've found the time to get out of NYC a bit more...

The first 30 days...

My rides on my Ducati Monster for the last 30 days (May-June 2013):  I've been to Port Deposit and the Conowingo Dam in Maryland, out to Lancaster County and Oley in Pennsylvania, then up to Allentown, Ottsville and Doylestown, and on to Frenchtown and Newark in New Jersey.  After arriving in New York City, where I garage my bike in North Willamsburg, Brooklyn, I've taken trips to Coney Island, Sheepshead Bay, Breezy Point and Rockaway Beach, getting lost in Ridgewood, Queens on the way back.  I've taken little runs to Red Hook, Astoria, Roosevelt Island and of course all around Manhattan and Times Square!

I went up to Bear Mountain by way of the Palisades, NJ through Englewood, Nyack, Congers and back through Elmsford and Yonkers.  The next week I went up to Port Jervis, NY to the Hawk's Nest, then back  through Milford and Fort Lee, before taking a detour to the Bronx to Mount Vernon and Pelham, then back through Parkchester to the FDR.   The next day I rode out through Jersey City on I78 to Barnards NJ to meet up with the Desmo Owners Club to ride around the Round Valley Resevoir, into PA at Frenchtown, then up the Delaware through Easton up to Belvidere, stopping off for lunch in Washington, NJ.
